One UI 8.5: Calculator app gets an update to v12.5.10.18.

Samsung’s One UI 8.5 update brings a refreshed Calculator app with new depth effects, glow animations, and smart Nudges for faster calculations.

Samsung’s upcoming One UI 8.5 update is shaping up to be more than just a routine software release. Among the apps receiving attention, the Calculator is getting a noticeable visual and functional upgrade that makes everyday use feel more refined.

Cleaner Interface With Subtle Depth

In the latest One UI 8.5 beta, Samsung has introduced a depth style redesign for the main Calculator keys. The number buttons and basic operators now feature a soft shadow, giving them a slightly elevated look. This subtle lift improves visibility and adds a more premium touch to the interface.

Meanwhile, secondary buttons such as mode switching, history, and the unit converter retain their flat, minimal appearance, keeping the layout balanced and uncluttered. 

 Dynamic Glow Animation for Key Presses

Samsung has also added a new glow animation that activates whenever a button is pressed. This gentle highlight surrounds the key and shifts its colour depending on:

• The current Calculator mode
• Whether the device is in Light or Dark mode 

The effect is consistent across Standard, Scientific, and Unit Converter modes, giving the app a more modern and responsive feel.

Nudges: Faster Input From Copied Data 

A practical addition in One UI 8.5 is a feature called Nudges. When you copy a number or formula from another app, the Calculator will automatically detect it and display it as a quick suggestion. With a single tap, you can insert the copied content directly into the Calculator no manual typing required. 

Still No Currency Converter

Despite these improvements, one long requested feature remains missing  a currency converter. Samsung has yet to integrate this tool into the Calculator, even though users have been asking for it for years. 

A Small but Meaningful Upgrade

Overall, the One UI 8.5 update gives the Calculator a fresh visual identity and introduces a smart shortcut that makes calculations more efficient. It’s a modest update, but one that enhances the app’s usability in everyday tasks.
